The Men of Troy host the Blazers of UAB this Saturday at 2:30 in Movie Gallery Stadium...kickoff is slated for 2:30 PM...This will beTroy's first home game and is favored by 6..but, question is....are they as good as advertised? The GOOD NEWS is.....Bear Woods...Troy's last seasons motivational leader will be returning to the lineup at linebacker for this game. So far....Troy's defense hasn't been up to par, especially in the secondary....UAB sports one of the best QB's in conference USA...so, this game could turn out to be a classic. Any thoughts?

I'm really disappointed in this years Troy. They blew a 14 point lead against Bowling Green and ended up losing 31-14 and then hung in there with the Gators in the first quarter down 7-3 despite making several big mistakes and completely failing to capitalize on Florida's mistakes and then the Gators went up 14-3 and Troy just seemed to give up (granted even if they brought their A game they still wouldve lost, but I wasnt expecting them to lose 56-6). UAB on the other hand comes off a loss in a game they were expected to win. It'll be an interesting game but Troy isn't as good as they were advertised in the preseason.

I saw parts of the Bama game and I think FIU might be a front runner for the Sun Belt. That is, if their QB is healthy. He's not terrible and they hung with Bama for a while.

I'm not saying they're amazing. But you don't have to be to win the Sun Belt.

Then again, Arkansas State is always a pretty safe bet too.

I'm big on Troy State, I had a scholarship there way back when until I dislocated a hip, then all they wanted me to do is kick, and my son went to Troy U, and I live 30 min south of Troy, but I thought this was suppose to be the year, but so far they have been very short. Is the time of Blakeny run out?

Yeah, when you're stating how disappointed you are in this years Trojan team...you're preaching to the choir on that one....I think they got those preseason accolades dancing around in their heads thinking they were going to travel up to Bowling Green, go through the motions, and take care of business...and that's the way it all started up there....till things turned 180 degrees...then it all went to hell in a hand basket. I was VERY pleased how the Gayder game started....I felt like we were fired up for the game..but, between turnovers and the offense going "three and out" too many times.....Florida just wore us down in the second quarter...I knew we would have had to play a perfect game to hava shot at Florida....unfortunately, we didn't even come close.

Hmmmm....thirty minutes south huh....you must be an Ozarkian then....LOL I don't think this is Blakeney's last hurrah.....to me, as long as miss Janice continues to be happy here..and Troy keeps winning the Sun Belt Conference...Larry's future is SOLID here...I even saw last Saturday where he's currently #4 with alltime wins with coaches who have stayed with the same university...think he's got somewhere around 144 posted on his resume here in T-town....quite impressive...PLUS, Troy's looking to move up to the next level in the near future...we've just about done all we can do in the SBC....all we need to do now is to build a new B'ball arena to qualify to be included in Conference USA...so, that's on the horizon....I'm sure Larry wants to be here for that.

I don't see FIU giving us much competition...you gotta remember....we hung in there with the BEST team in the country till the wheels came off.....Troy's STILL the front runner to win the conference...to me..we've got two teams that can challenge...you mentioned one of them being Ark. State...they're ALWAYS good....especially at home...and Schnellenbergers team in south Fla. will contend for the title also.

Just off 167S, I didn't mean TSU getting rid of him or even he wanting to leave. Its just sometimes a coach at the same place this long sort of gets in a rut or loses the fire, or something. Other than move on up He and TSU have did everything I think they could. I may be wrong but when you have a 180 turn as they did against BG it falls back on coaching. I still believe he is a good coach.

I saw both games, and FIU looked better against Alabama than Troy did against UF. And I think Alabama is every bit as good as Florida this year. If not AS good they're right up there. So Troy hung with UF, sure, but FIU hung with Bama for a half.

I say all of this, because I was royally pissed at Troy. Not because I expected them to beat UF, rather because I ALWAYS pull for those guys and giving UF a better game (even in a loss) could have emboldened those guys to play hard all year.

I don't know much about Troy this season. I would assume, like always, that Troy will be competitive in every game they play, including the ones against bigger programs (except UF last weekend...that just wasn't fair).

I have to admit...I"m really surprised we've still got him here in Troy...personally, I believe Blakeney's a great coach....and to me, if it weren't for Janice being quite happy here...I think he would have been gone years ago. As far as the move up....yup, it's gonna happen..just a matter of when. Ya know, the BG game...I don't really know if anyone has a grip on what truly happened up there...they started out great..and things just went FLAT. Did Larry get outcoached at halftime and then the second half....YUP, he's already admitted that.

Again, notice I'm NOT arguing with ya about their performance in the second quarter...they made too many turnovers, too many three and outs..and I think the Gators got in their heads while putting 28 points on the board that quarter. Not taking anything away from FIU...let's see how they play against UAB doing a lil home cooking...if they stink this time...then I'll throw in the towel and admit we're EL STINKO's....LOL

Troy's pre-season expectations were fairly high...unfortunately, all those press clippings have been burnt and buried.....we lost 3/4 of our defensive secondary for academic reasons and it's affected the defense as well as the whole team's attitude...hopefully, that will be temporairy and they'll right the ship this Saturday with UAB.

Not a bad win for Troy. It seemed like they dominated most of the game though and the final score (27-14) is pretty deceptive to how close it really was. This is what people expected Troy to be like in the preseason. Hopefully now that the conference play is beginning they'll pick it back up and play like Trojans.

Actually, BC...I was at the game last Saturday...and to be honest with ya...they did NOT play a good game at all..had WAYYYY to many silly penalties...they didn't play with a sense of urgency about them at all...if UAB would have had a few more talented athletes on their squad...we would have lost that game...it's sad when the "best" hit of the day came from the offense from a crack back block than from the D. If we continue to play this way the rest of the season...we WON"T repeat as SBC champs for the 4th consecutive time. Next week we travel to Ark. State....they'll give us more of a challenge than AUB did.
