FansPoll.com is a web site created to give college football fans the chance to help choose who should be the 2006 Division 1 National Collegiate Football Champion. The web site was actually started in December 2004 when five undefeated teams were left at the end of the regular season and three undefeated teams remained after the bowl games. George Brown, a 17 year old high school student from Opelika, Alabama wanted to develop a simple system for fans to choose the 2004 National Champion after it was evident that the current system did not work. “Since there is already a coach’s poll and a writer’s poll it makes sense to have a fans poll,” Brown says.
Now we’ve grown. Fanspoll.com had to grow to insure we included fans from all conferences and to be sure the system is fair for all teams. FansPoll.com's system includes all 119 Division I schools. At the end of football season, one fan from each of these teams will win the opportunity to be on our FansPoll Selection Committee representing their favorite team. This qualified, fan based Selection Committee will then choose the National Champion and our other 19 National Championship Awards. It’s like a football fans version of an Electoral College.
As a company we’ve aligned ourselves with some prominent national corporations who know sports and sports marketing. These partners will get the word out to fans all across the country so everyone will have the chance to participate. Our 2005 version of FansPoll.com will gave us a national presence we didn’t have time to develop . And… with our qualified, fan based selection committee making the final choices for our awards, we’ve made our process far more legitimate than an anonymous web poll that leaves itself open to all types of inconsistencies. This innovative system will enable fans from all over the country to become participants, and not just spectators. We all agree that the best way to crown the National Champion should be on the field with some sort of playoff system. But guess what? We’re probably not going to see that happen anytime soon. So we’ve decided that we’re going to do something about the current system by creating our own. There’s not much left to say about us except we’re just a bunch football fans tired of not having an opinion about the game we love
Hopefully you’ll enjoy FansPoll as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it and we can all feel like we’re part of the greatest game in this country…college football.
You should register because finally the regular guy, the regular football fan will have a chance to
participate in the selection process. Fans buy the tickets, pay for the concessions and buy tons of
collegiate merchandise each year. Think about it, if fans weren’t funding the institution of
college football there might not be college football coaches and sports writer’s and there might
not be college football at all! At least not as we know it today. So wouldn’t you like to have a say
as to who will be the 2006 Division 1 Football Champion? Sure you would. You’re already paying all the bills.
And oh yeah, you’ll get a chance to win some great prizes.
If you are an AOL user and are having trouble with the registration page, try to use a browser other than the AOL browser (i.e. Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox). For some reason the AOL browser is having issues with our registration page.
If you don't receive your confirmation email, send an email to forums "@" fanspoll.com (without the spaces or quotes, you know how spammers are) and we will set you up!
We’re a group of college football fans who want to give fans the right to shake things up a bit by
giving them the All-American right to vote. If it’s good enough for The Peoples Choice Awards, American Idol
and Major League Baseball then let’s take on College Football and have our voices heard. Now it’s our turn to choose!
Log on each week to pick the winners of our carefully selected games from around the country. These games are
chosen by our brilliant staff to test the skills of football prophets everywhere. There will be 10 games each
week and if you outsmart everyone from your favorite team you will win a spot on the 119 member FansPoll Selection
Committee at the end of the regular season. These are the fans who get to choose the 2006 Peoples National
Champion and our other national awards. Remember, each week you participate in the FansPick Contest your name will be
registered again for a chance to win the Grand Prize. That means if you participate all 14 weeks of the season you will be
registered for the Grand Prize times, including the day when you first registered. This also applies to the FansPoll.com™
Top 25 Poll. Each week you participate will get you an additional registration for the Grand Prize. We’ll also be adding
opportunities during the season to add to your chances as you come to the site. That’s a bunch of chances to win
if you play the system every week! You can also test your picking skills against your friends, but I’m sure nobody would
want to brag.
This is Important! You DO NOT have to win the FansPick Contest or even know how to spell the word football to win the Grand Prize!
So get involved and get your name in the computer as many times as possible by playing the FansPick Contest and voting on your Fans Top 25 poll each week.
Log on to FansPoll.com™ and you’ll be directed to your personal Dashboard. Go to the Top 25 section of the team page and vote for the
teams you think should be in the Top 25. Simple, like it ought to be.
That’s really up to you. The first thing to do is register, play the FansPick Contest each week and try to get on the selection committee so you can
have a voice in the final outcome. Pick the game winners in the FansPick Contest and vote on the FansPoll.com™ Top 25 Poll every week. When we all get
involved our voice gets louder. If the current system starts to hear from you, who knows what will happen. Nobody’s ever asked the fans opinion before,
so now’s it’s our chance to be heard? And don’t forget, it’s free to participate and you just might win something.
The fact that qualified fans make the final decision as to who wins the National Championship is what makes FansPoll.com™ legitimate. If you’re good
enough to win the FansPick Contest and represent your favorite school, you’re more than just lucky. Picking the winners of these games each week will be tough and to
win the contest at the end of the season will mean you must be a pretty sharp football fan. This is not just a popularity contest and there will be a voice heard from all
119 Division 1 schools. That fact alone makes FansPoll.com™ just as legit as any other system out there. There’s one other thing we’ve kept a secret.
We have this guy named Spanky who writes programming for the site. If you saw him you would know we’re legit. Nothing says legit like a pocket protector.
The FansPick Contest standings will be posted on the site by 8 A.M. EST each Monday morning and the FansPoll Top 25 results will be posted on the site by 8 A.M. EST on Tuesday morning.
The cutoff for the FansPick Contest is 8 A.M. EST Thursday afternoon prior to the weekend's games. The cutoff for the FansPoll.com™ Top 25 is 6 A.M. EST on the Monday following the weekend's games.
